George’s RunForType1 100km

Date:  30 September 2017

Time:  5:30am BST to 4pm BST

Location:  Ham Gate Avenue, Richmond Park, London TW105

“For George and everyone suffering from Type 1 diabetes, I’m asking for your help,” explained Simon Vinnicombe. “I’m going to run 100km in a day – the equivalent of 62 miles – something way beyond my limits. It will almost certainly break me, both physically and emotionally, but I won’t give up. I couldn’t think of anything more fitting. It’s a daily battle of endurance caring for a child with Type 1 diabetes, and I hope people will get a glimpse of just how much a cure would mean to me and thousands of parents and children the world over.”

Vinnicombe continued, “I also believe that a cure is close. I am utterly sure that brilliant people are doing brilliant work which will eventually end this condition. But they need the money for research. I’m asking you to support George and all children with Type 1 diabetes, and together we can bring that cure a step closer.”

“On a personal as well as professional level, I could not be more humbled and proud to support Simon in this tremendous endeavor to raise funds and awareness in support of children around the world like George who are suffering with Type 1 Diabetes,” said Ibs Mahmood, DrugDev President and CEO. “Awareness is great, but we need to raise funds so heroic organizations such as JDRF can continue to research new solutions to end this terrible disease once and for all. Any amount is welcome from individuals, and we have developed some exciting sponsorship opportunities for pharmaceutical companies. I am honored to have known Simon for many years, and I am certain he will do the impossible and succeed in this 100km run using his son George’s courage as inspiration to keep running forward.”
